It is with great sadness that the Schizophrenia Society of Saskatchewan would like to bring to your attention of the passing of Myrtle Surjik in December. Myrtle was a founding member of the SSS and a past president. She was tireless champion for families and persons with mental illness. It probably does not appear in any document that she was the driving force encouraging the Saskatchewan to introduce Community Treatment Orders and having Clozapine placed on the formulary. She will be greatly missed.
