Teams of three people including a person who has schizophrenia, a family member who has an ill relative and a mental health professional deliver presentations by sharing their personal life stories. The client describes living with schizophrenia, the family member outlines the impact of the illness on the family unit and the mental health professional provides a clinical overview of this disabling brain illness. In many instances, the mental health professional has a hands-on experience with people who suffer with schizophrenia and other psychiatric disabilities.
Each member is an expert in their own right and an equal player in the program.
